In his Ta'rikh al-Rasul (ed. de Goeje [Leyden, 1881-1882], vol. I), `Abd-al-Malik ibn-Hisham, the first biographer of the Prophet, maintains that Farwah was prefect also over Ma'an, which then included most of today's Jordan.
