The Battle of al-Jisr was fought and lost by the Arabs against the Persian Empire on the Euphrates north of the town of al-Hira in the autumn of A.D. 634; the Battle of Buwayb was won south of al Hira, also on the Euphrates (between Kufah and Najaf), in the autumn of A.D. 635.
